Some photos from the Museum of Neoliberalism I co-curated with Gavin Grindon and which opened for 4 days in Brighton at The World Transformed. ANTI-ADVERTISING CONFERENCE

I’m going to be doing a talk/workshop called ‘The art of parody — what makes a good satirical poster?’ at the UK’s first anti-advertising conference bringing together activists, artists, planners and community campaigners, in Bristol next month. The workshop will be alongside Matt Bonner of Revolt Design, who’s behind a ton of great activist art & design including maybe most famously the Trump Baby balloon. MUSEUM OF NEOLIBERALISM

This weekend is the launch of a Museum of Neoliberalism I’ve co-curated with Gavin Grindon, at The World Transformed 2019 festival in Brighton. Tickets are still available, but if you can’t make it I’ll be posting photos next week. We also hope to show it elsewhere, including at WAR Gallery, and have been thinking about it as a starting point, and a sort of prototype for, The Thatcher Museum I was banging on about a few years ago. I’ll also be talking at the ‘Subvertising Symposium’ at The World Transformed on Sunday alongside Ad Block Bristol, Matt Bonner, Michelle Tylicki and Dog Section Press.

ART THE ARMS FAIR

My work on display as part of the Art The Arms Fair group show which runs until the 13th September in Peckham, raising funds for Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT). All these works are for sale for CAAT. My ‘Empire Air‘ short film is also being shown.⁠⁠The show is split across three locations:⁠⁠Safehouses 1 & 2 (137 & 139 Copeland Rd) for the main exhibition, 12pm–8pm weekdays and 10am–8pm at the weekend⁠⁠AMP Gallery (1 Acorn Parade) for Peter Kennard’s takeover, 12pm–8pm weekdays and 10am–8pm at the weekend⁠⁠ AMP Studios (897a Old Kent Rd) for more art, 6pm–8pm on weekdays and 10am-8pm at the weekend (plus all the evening events – see the Art the Arms Fair website)⁠⁠A ctions to try and stop the arms fair are continuing, if you have the time please consider getting involved, more details at stopthearmsfair.org.uk⁠

LAKES COMIC FESTIVAL

Very happy to be a guest at The Lakes International Comic Art Festival this year. I’ll be doing an exhibition and a couple of events, as well as a stall. JAPANESE WHALING

Painted this last night based on the signs Japanese whalers hold up when being photographed from the air by Greenpeace. I’m selling the original of this on eBay to raise money for Sea Shepherd UK, who put their bodies on the line in direct actions against whaling and other sea life poaching. You can bid here. Although I don’t think it can beat the absurdity of the actual signs Japanese whalers hold up when being photographed (see below)

GLASTONBURY

Glastonbury was pretty damn great. Thanks to everyone who made it great. Including special thanks to my mushroom juice (see below) which was definitely a great idea.⁠⁠Also has to be said Block 9 stole the entire festival with the IICON giant head stage. PINKWASHING

Surprisingly honest sign outside Sainsbury’s. The only thing a corporation can ever proudly support is their ability to make profit. To them, social issues are merely PR opportunities to drive sales and enrich investors. Particularly fucking annoying about the original sign is the tie-in with Sainsbury’s 150 year anniversary, making it look like they’ve been supporting LGBT+ rights for 150 years.

THE NATIONAL ANTHEM IS A LIE

The English national anthem is a lie.⠀God never saved any of them.⠀⠀It’s also an objectively terrible and obsequious national jingle, and if we’re going to have any pretence whatsoever that England doesn’t just consider the rest of the UK its mini-empire then the UK should have a different national song to England. The fact Northern Ireland has this as its anthem is just plain tragic.⠀⠀ Fun fact: the British armed forces swear allegiance to protect the Queen, not the country, not the people, not even the government.⠀⠀ King Charles will be our best chance at a British republic and we can reclaim the enormous Crown Estate, land confiscated from the people since the invasion of William the Conqueror. ⠀The royals can still kick around and tourists can still come look at the palaces, they’ll just have to make their living as celebrities rather than parasites on the state.
