NEW SHOW AT THE MUSEUM OF HOMELESSNESS
For the last month or two I’ve been working on some new work for this group show at the fantastic Museum of Homelessness, opening on the 21st May. It’s free and open for 10 weeks! Here’s the details: “A historical exhibition exploring 400 years of criminalisation of homelessness featuring new work from 10Foot, Gemma Lees, Matt Bonner, Spelling Mistakes Cost Lives, and Surfing Sofas. The exhibition, staged in an English perennial meadow at the museum’s site in Finsbury Park, will show that how we think about homelessness today comes from ideas that were created long ago. When people talk about the criminalisation of homelessness, it’s usually the Vagrancy Act of 1824 that is the focus. But there is much more to this story.
MAKE AMAZON PAY
New poster I made as part of Brandalism’s anti-Amazon Black Friday that went up over the last few days in support of the Make Amazon Pay campaign. I designed the poster at the last minute while I was in Nigeria which is why none of it is painted. Massive thanks to Brandalism for organising the campaign and the install crews for getting them out there! DAILY MAIL / UK LAWYERS FOR ISRAEL
According to the Daily Mail I’ve been reported to the British police by “UK Lawyers for Israel” for designing the BDS supermarket labels (available to download and print here). Y’know how you wait ages for one awful institution full of bastards to have a go and then three come along at once? I only just found out about this today since the Daily Mail article came out on Xmas eve. The police haven’t been in touch yet although I don’t really expect anything to come from it. This “UK Lawyers for Israel” is the same group that campaigned to have artwork made by Gazan children removed from a London hospital (see below). Which apparently they were “delighted to report”. And the same group who invited extremists from pro-illegal settler campaign group Regavim to speak in the UK. According to PSC, Regavim was cofounded by an Israeli government MP who is “notorious for homophobic remarks, describing LGBT+ Jews as “beasts”, defended violence by Jewish settlers against Palestinians and suggested that Ahed Tamimi, then a 17 year old Palestinian girl arrested for preventing an Israeli soldier illegally entering her home, should be shot in the knee caps.” Well they certainly all sound like lovely people have a firm grasp of the difference between right and wrong. This has all given me a nudge to get more labels available for download, which I’ll be doing this week! I’ll post about them in my story. I’m also now posting updates on my artwork and links in my new Telegram channel.

POLICE PROTEST SIGN
My sign at the #KillTheBill May Day protest in London (Photo by Joe Kibria). ‘Blue bib’ cops at protests are there to gather intelligence on protesters which the police then use against protest movements. The Police monitoring organisation Netpol found evidence from FOI requests that ‘Police Liaison Officers’ at protests are trained in intelligence gathering, and information they acquired through friendly chats at protests has been later used in prosecutions against peaceful protesters. The nationwide protests were about the dystopian police powers in the new Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill currently being pushed by the government. It would outlaw any protest which caused ‘serious annoyance’, i.e every protest worth its salt, would expand attacks on Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities and increase already misused stop and search powers.
