Firstly I was very happy to be invited on the Cursed Objects podcast to talk about the Museum of Neoliberalism, I thought it went very well! Listen here. I was also on the AdFree Cities Podcast ‘Better Without Billboards‘ although I think I rambled a bit more on this one. MUSEUM CLOSING PARTY
Due to high demand I’m going to open the Museum of Neoliberalism for three final days this week before I’m finally kicked out of my studio, ending with a closing party on Saturday night. Museum open this week Thurs-Sat, 26th-28th Sept. 11am-7pm Party on Saturday from 8.30pm til late. All welcome. Also on Saturday from 7-8.30 is a small event where I’ll be interviewing Ralph Billington, a local 88 year-old self-described revolutionary socialist and artist, and showing an exhibition of his artwork. MUSEUM CLOSURE / STUDIO SEARCH
The permanent closure of the Museum of Neoliberalism, which doubles as my art studio, is rapidly approaching. I need to be fully cleared out by the 1st Oct so will be closing for good on the 15th Sept. Make a booking and come see it before it closes! Unfortunately the place I’d planned to move my studio and the museum to in Margate has fallen through, so I am now looking down the barrel of an eviction in a few weeks with nowhere to go.

I’m closing the Museum of Neoliberalism until further notice to avoid contributing the to coronavirus problem. The government’s response has been slow and ineffectual and we can’t wait for them to take the lead on this. Take care everyone. We’ll reopen once things start to improve.

The Museum of Neoliberalism I co-curated with Gavin Grindon has had a bit more press. I was interviewed for the above article with i-D, also Huck, New Statesman, and as mentioned previously, a great write-up in Prospect and the Financial Times, and a review in Time Out. The Museum of Neoliberalism has had a few good reviews now, the above is this week’s Time Out, which you can read online here. It’s also had a good write up in the Financial Times, and Prospect magazine. The response from visitors has been amazing too. If you want to visit, it’s open Thurs-Sunday 11am-7pm, but please book in advance at museumofneoliberalism.com to make sure we’re open when you visit.

This weekend is the launch of a Museum of Neoliberalism I’ve co-curated with Gavin Grindon, at The World Transformed 2019 festival in Brighton. Tickets are still available, but if you can’t make it I’ll be posting photos next week. We also hope to show it elsewhere, including at WAR Gallery, and have been thinking about it as a starting point, and a sort of prototype for, The Thatcher Museum I was banging on about a few years ago. I’ll also be talking at the ‘Subvertising Symposium’ at The World Transformed on Sunday alongside Ad Block Bristol, Matt Bonner, Michelle Tylicki and Dog Section Press.

After the fantastic and unexpected news from last night’s election, albeit with the end result being a Coalition of Bigots between the Tories and DUP, I think it’s about time we got started building that Anti-Thatcher Museum I was on about awhile ago.I reworked the old Tory logo into something more approrpriate and I’m taking pre-orders for screenprinted t-shirts of it in order to raise some funds to get the museum off the ground. If you’d like one they’re £15 from hereI’m going to be working on the museum with Gavin Grindon who curated the The Museum of Cruel Designs at Dismaland, Disobedient Objects at the V&A and the museum on the Israeli occupation inside the The Walled Off Hotel. It’s going to take awhile, but it’s going to be good!Onwards!
