ANNUAL ZINE BINDER

I’ve made these custom Wirex binders to collect around 10+ years worth of my annual Patreon subscriber zine. The outside cover is 3D and can viewed with the included 3D glasses you’ll find in a plastic pouch on the back inside cover, which can also hold stickers and other small bits. Each binder is signed and numbered.
2025 RECAP ZINE

I’ve almost finished putting together my 2025 recap zine which I’ll be sending to my subscribers on Patreon next month along with some other bits and bobs. If you’d like a copy just sign up to support my work for for £4 a month and I’ll send you this and all the previous year zines (until they run out).If you’d like a purely digital recap of my year, you can read the update I sent to my mailing list subscribers a few weeks back. This is the third edition of this annual zine I’ve done and I’ve found it’s been a great way of documenting my work each year and pushing me to make more. It’s also meant that more people have signed up to my Patreon which means I have a regular baseline income which, while still well below my monthly overheads, gives me a backstop so I know at least half my studio rent is covered every month, particularly when I’m doing larger, more time-intensive projects that mean I don’t post on social media to remind folk about the fact I have a shop (which is the only way I’ve been able to keep this show on the road up until now.)
2024 ZINE

I’ve started work on a zine of all my work from 2024, which I’ll be sending to my Patreon backers next month. If you’d like one just sign up for £3.50+ a month on my Patreon, the cost of half a pint, and I’ll send you a copy of this and if you didn’t get the 2023 zine I’ll throw in a copy of that too. New backers will get the previous year’s zines until they run out, which means theoretically you could game the system by waiting to back my Patreon until the last moment and get a bunch of zines for the lowest amount of cash, but I figured the vast majority of my Patreon backers are doing it because they want to help me keep making work and any rewards or prizes are a bonus. So do as thou wilt! As ever a massive thanks to everyone who has supported my work either through Patreon or getting stuff from my online shop or anywhere else. It is literally the reason I’m able to rent a studio, keep the Hell Bus on the road and plan bigger, angrier, and more sarcastic projects in the future. Thank you so much x www.patreon.com/spellingmistakescostlives
NEW STUDIO

Earlier last month I finally finished moving out of my old studio in Leegate Shopping centre, which doubled as the Museum of Neoliberalism, and into my new studio in the middle of a roundabout in Sydenham. I’ve been at Leegate for nine years, and as you can see from the photos here, I accumulated a fair amount of shite in that time. The move took four non-stop, gruelling weeks, and a massive thanks to the folk who donated their time and sweat to helping me move, I thank you from the bottom of my unbroken back. Thanks also to my Leegate neighbour, Maxwell Anderson who took these photos as part of a record of the last Leegate tenants.
MUSEUM CLOSURE / STUDIO SEARCH

The permanent closure of the Museum of Neoliberalism, which doubles as my art studio, is rapidly approaching. I need to be fully cleared out by the 1st Oct so will be closing for good on the 15th Sept. Make a booking and come see it before it closes! Unfortunately the place I’d planned to move my studio and the museum to in Margate has fallen through, so I am now looking down the barrel of an eviction in a few weeks with nowhere to go.
2023 RECAP ZINE

My 64-page 2023 recap zine for my Patreon backers has arrived back from the printers and will start shipping on Monday (so make sure yr address is up to date if you’re a backer!). There’s still time to sign up for £3.50 a month and get your copy here.. This is just a little way of saying thank you to everyone who supports me on Patreon. After these all go out, as long as there are some left then every three months new subscribers will get a copy until they run out. Then there will be a new zine for 2024. If you had previously backed me on Patreon and had to cancel your subscription for whatever reason I’ve printed a few extra for you and I’ll be emailing shortly to ask for your address to send you a copy too. It’s only fair considering that I neglected that platform for quite a few years and people were still supporting me :) I really enjoyed putting this together and I’m so happy with how they turned out. It’s nice to have an entire year’s work boiled down to a single publication rather than spread over the internet, and I honestly just love having an excuse to print on newsprint. It was also fun as a trial run for an eventual collected book of my work that I’d love to do once I get settled in whatever new studio I end up in by this time next year. Thanks to everyone who has backed me so far, and to everyone who gets stuff from my online shop or the Museum of Neoliberalism. It’s quite literally the reason I can afford to do this shit as my full time job. SO THANK YOU!! And onto the next thing! X Darren

WAR

Last week I opened my studio/gallery/shop in Lewisham, south east London: WAR. I was primarily looking for a studio space and ended up finding this shop front, an old barbershop with a big front window in “the worst shopping centre in the country”, and figured I might as well do the front as a gallery and flog my comics while I’m at it. Then I realised I should get some other people who’s work I like so I started calling round and it’s now stocked with STRIKE! Magazine, Breakdown Press, Wobbly Rock and David Peter Kerr, with more to follow. Follow WAR on twitter / facebook
