YOUR AD HERE

Corporations and woke ad campaigns will not save us. A corporation legally cannot take a stand for anything except shareholder value. Their campaigns are simply attempts at commodifying and neutering political movements. We can’t buy our way to a better world. More subvertising.
BLACK LIVES MATTER

The keys to open bus stops are now available from my website shop, if you use them to put up a black lives matter poster I’ll refund the cost of the pack – just email me a photo. You can paint or draw on the back of the original posters you find in the bus stops. Every poster you put up gives you another poster to adjust. Let’s cover the streets. If you can afford to please donate to US protester bail funds and write to your MP! Let’s not pretend that racist police violence is just an American problem. AFTERMATH

Photo: Tomas Dekeyser The election was clearly a proxy referendum on Brexit. The simple messaging of getting Brexit “done”, with the entire media establishment lined up to attack Labour and Corbyn, and years of extreme-centrist and blue-Labour wrecking actions, including the farce of the engineered antisemitism “crisis”, have led to a situation where we have an actual racist with racist policies as Prime Minister for the next 5 years. We lost because of Brexit. The left-wing policies in the Labour manifesto were, and remain, popular with voters. But the extreme centrists in Labour and the media want to pretend this was a rejection of compassionate, left-wing policies. If anything it was a rejection of Labour’s policy of a 2nd referendum on Brexit, which centrists now forget they had demanded. Ironically the same people who said Labour were unelectable because of the racism of 0.01% of its members are now advocating Labour become more racist in order to be more electable. The voters rejected Labour’s 2nd referendum at this election, they also rejected the centrism of the Liberal Democrats. Anyone arguing that a more “moderate” leader would have defeated Tory Brexit-hysteria have to explain the failure of the Lib Dems first, and the explicit swing from Labour to the Brexit party. The fact is that any Labour leader to the left of Blair would have also been monstered by the press. That they were able to demonise a kind, vegan, lifelong anti-racist campaigner as “literally Hitler” shows the power and cynicism at play against us. For the sake of the marginalised, the sick, and poverty stricken in this country, for the sake of the environment, for the sake of the thousands of innocents UK bombs obliterate overseas, we cannot allow neoliberal pro-war centrists like Jess Phillips and Tom Watson to wrestle […]

PINKWASHING

Surprisingly honest sign outside Sainsbury’s. The only thing a corporation can ever proudly support is their ability to make profit. To them, social issues are merely PR opportunities to drive sales and enrich investors. Particularly fucking annoying about the original sign is the tie-in with Sainsbury’s 150 year anniversary, making it look like they’ve been supporting LGBT+ rights for 150 years.
LOOK WHAT IT DOES TO A PENNY

Thanks again to Special Patrol Group for putting up my NUKE poster in bus stops around London recently. Check out all the other #SubvertTheCity interventions and get involved. In case anyone wants one I have limited edition prints of this poster available in my online shop it’s also a fake ad in my Mini Daily Mail.
SUBVERT THE CITY

Big thanks to Special Patrol Group for putting up some of my posters on a recent mission around London.
IBM AND THE HOLOCAUST

A poster I designed about IBM’s direct role in the Holocaust has gone up across New York, inc opposite the headquarters of IBM North America. The research on which this poster was based on was from Edwin Black’s excellent, yet harrowing book ‘IBM and the Holocaust‘. Thomas J Watson, CEO of IBM at the time even received a medal from Hitler for his services to the Third Reich. Watson himself directly profited from the Holocaust, taking 1% on all IBM profits. IBM have named one of their current AI projects ‘Watson’ in honour of him. For unsettling added context, the IBM HQ is neighbours with Trump Tower
BOOT LICKING

New poster started appearing on the tube. Based on an ad from my Mini Daily Mail.
BELLEND PALACE ON THE TUBE

Thanks to Special Patrol Group for putting these up and around the London underground. Image is originally from my Mini Daily Mail, available here.
YEMEN

These posters I drew have started appearing on the underground thanks to Special Patrol Group. They were inspired by Jeremy Hunt talking about us sending aid to Yemen to deal with the consequences of the bombs we sold to drop on Yemen.A lot of the weapons we sold to Saudi Arabia were made by MBDA, which is a missile company co-owned by Airbus and BAE Systems. As well as the thousands killed in the US/UK backed war in Yemen, the naval blockade by Saudi Arabia is causing a famine the UN has described as the deadliest in decades, and that 8 million people are “right on the brink of famine”. The US has dispatched ships to reinforce the blockade. The Saudis rely on UK and US support for the bombing campaign, we have military personnel over there picking targets, processing intelligence, refuelling and rearming planes. The British military has also been training Saudi troops to fight in Yemen and teaching battlefield tactics to Saudi officers. The UK sending £4 million of aid is pointless while we still support and encourage the causes of that famine. We need to end our support for this war and put and end to the blockade immediately. 🇾🇪🇾🇪🇾🇪🇾🇪🇾🇪🇾🇪🇾🇪🇾🇪🇾🇪 #Subvertising #ArmsTrade #Military
REMEMBER

I have work in the Intervention group show at Hackney Creative Social Club from 1-22 Dec. Then next Friday 7th Dec at WAR gallery it’s the (rescheduled) launch exhibition for my Mini Daily Mail, & where I’ll also be showing various other projects I’ve done this year. That runs until Feb.
GREAT WAR

The UK government now mourns those whose lives were stolen by WWI, but lest we forget they also produced the manipulative recruitment posters that convinced tens of thousands to sign up to be thrown into the carnage. Poster I made in collaboration with Veterans for Peace UK, installed by Special Patrol Group. Based on the 1915 recruitment poster “Daddy what did YOU do in the Great War?” which pushed the idea that young men who did not sign up would spend the rest of their lives regretting missing out on the adventure of the First World War, and that those who did would return home with a lot of great stories to share with their future children. The reality was that of those who returned at all, many were horrifically maimed and disabled, and for the most part they kept the stories of the horrors they witnessed to themselves. #remembrance #remembranceday #armistice100 #WWI
TORY LAND

Tory Land theme park adverts have started appearing on the London Underground. You don’t need a ticket, you’re already there. The ad featured in the mini Daily Mail I did with RRUNews in Liverpool. I’m doing a kickstarter to get it reprinted which you can back here: www.minidailymail.co.uk. I’ve also added a new page to the Projects section containing all my Subvertising work. #Tories #Subvertising

#MAKETHEFUTURE #UNINHABITABLE

I designed some posters for this anti-fossil fuel greenwashing campaign in collaboration with Brandalism targeting Shell’s bullshit PR festival #makethefuture. Posters gone up in bus stops in London, Leeds, Bristol and Oxford. Images taken from my #burnthefuture installation at Shangri-La/Glastonbury last year. The other artists posters for this are brilliant too. 🛢🔥💀

ROYAL NAVY: ‘BECOME A SUICIDE BOMBER’

I designed the new Royal Navy recruitment poster that has started appearing around London. Budding recruits should visit royalnavy.org.uk for more information. Big thanks to Special Patrol Group for installation help. More photos and updated project page here. Nuclear bombs are suicide bombs – it is impossible to use these weapons without also killing ourselves. A country with nuclear weapons is prepared to destroy the world rather than lose a war. With a single weapon system we hold the planet hostage by the sort of terror you only get from thermonuclear missiles. Terrorists are willing to commit suicide to brutally murder innocent people, but so are we. In fact, we’re about to spend £200 billion on upgrading our ability to do so. The British government refuses to rule out first-use of nuclear weapons and has stated it may use them even if its ‘vital interests’ are threatened. Due to NATO membership and our alleged Special Relationship, we’re also committed to a nuclear suicide pact with America. The posters point budding recruits to a website at royalnavy.org.uk which demonstrates how the crew of a nuclear submarine must be prepared to destroy human civilisation on command.
POCKET MONEY LOANS COMES TO A CLOSE

After a pretty insane two weeks, the Pocket Money Loans shop closed its doors to the public on the 8th November. The reaction has been incredible and occasionally depressing. Trying to explain to the two separate mothers who came into the shop why their children couldn’t take out loans was definitely a low point, although it was a lot of fun being told I was “worse than a drug dealer” by a local shop owner. But talking to those who mistook it for a payday lender for adults gave me a much clearer understanding of the reason these shops exist in the first place and the dangers of allowing the market alone to provide a safety net for the poor.
SANTA GIVES MORE TO RICH KIDS THAN POOR KIDS

This was part of my Fine Art, (Environmental Art) degree show at Glasgow School of Art. Originally I was going to put up a billboard with Maiden Outdoor, advertising directly to both children and adults, telling them some unsettling truths…
