Had to make this today after reading that (genuine) quote from Ian Hislop, editor of Private Eye. Nick Cohen has been a known creep for decades. He got his nickname “the octopus” due to how frequently he’d grope female colleagues, safe in the knowledge that his power and prestige would protect him Cohen’s political views are also rancid: he pushed for the Iraq war, is pro-Israel, anti-trans and hates the left, and would write about all these things in The Observer, The Spectator and Private Eye. The following is from a New York Times article by Jane Bradley about how a Financial Times article about these allegations was spiked to protect both Nick Cohen and The Observer/Guardian

I started adding these stickers to the products of companies who help fund racist propaganda by advertising in the Daily Mail. The project was inspired by the departure of Paul Dacre as editor of the Mail, a toxic influence on British life for 26 years. The Daily Mail is without doubt one of the most racist, sexist and homophobic far-right publications on the market, beaten only by the BNP annual newsletter.
I MADE A HORRID LITTLE NEWSPAPER
As the final part of my artist residency with RRUNews in Liverpool, I’ve hand-drawn a fun/fear-sized version of the Daily Mail and I’m going to be giving these out for free in Liverpool city centre tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday from these locations: THURSDAY 10:30am-12:30pm St Johns’s Shopping Centre 1:30pm-3:30pm Outside News From Nowhere FRIDAY10:30am-12:30pm Lord Street 1:30pm-3:30pm Bluecoat Courtyard, Ropewalks Square Depending on how many I give out I’m also going to look into making the paper available after generally or getting it reprinted.
