It wasn’t until a while after I made this I found out there was an actual payday loan company called Tooth Fairy Finance who got into trouble with media regulator Ofcom after their radio ad described its 1918% interest rate as “nineteen eighteen percent”. Their tagline was “The friend that lends”. But if your friend is charging you 1918% APR, who needs enemies?
