a big big thankyou to all those who turned up at the paradiso in amsterdam, and remained there for our set of music and songs. it was possibly one of the best, and weirdest gigs so far. a large portion of thankyous, go out to the artrocker crew too who allowed us out of our native glasgow to wreak havoc on the art gallery hotel.
firstly, sorry to joel's neighbours in room 104 of said hotel. for reasons unknown to others, including myself, i decided that a programme of surveillance of spying on and making videos until 6am was a smart idea. apologies room 104. i hope you will return to amsterdam once more. if you do, i can return that lighter i borrowed aswell. the following morning, i remember waking up and finding almost 20 white towels on which they said, "paradiso". on leaving the club, it seems i thought it a good idea to take all of them back to our hotel to recover the many stolen towels from past exploits. rock and roll.
so to the gig. several hours earlier, much fun was had by the SHITDISCO crew dancing alongside matthew of Ladyfuzz and the large pot-plant from the basement disco. and so to joel and jan's boat trip. deciding there was too few drugs, or boats for that matter, both joel and jan departed to take photos, meet strange new people and dance on a canal. then came darrens departure. he was last seen entering the dancefloor at around three, with a new crate of heineken and eyes wider than your door. the following day, we had resigned to leaving the drum man's passport with rod, the moustacioed man from the paradiso, and we set about leaving for the airport. no sooner had we cut ties with darren, expecting him to return in a few days, was he spotted cycling past the paradiso with a mystery guest on the back of his velo. result!
thus, out came the glowsticks and on went the rave. until the airport arrived at our feet, signalling the beginning of the end of a thoroughly successful, and decidedly non-facist vacation.
NEWS - your favourite band called SHITDISCO will be back in amsterdam for the Queens Day street party on 29th april. see you there
